Active Lifestyles 2016 Sefton’s 50 + Olympics Press Release
For the fifth year running Active Lifestyles, hosted their ‘Sefton’s 50 + Olympics 2016’. The event held at Dunes Splash World on the 22nd April 2016 was filled with fun packed activities to challenge both the mind and body. This year saw over 95 participants take part.
After breaking out into some groovy moves to warm up, participants took part in a number of activities. New to this year’s event was the ball bounce which proved very popular along with some of the old favourites – penalty shoot out , giant noughts and crosses, well throwing and bowls to name but a few!
After a tasty lunch participants enjoyed some home made cakes baked by the Active Lifestyles team to raise money for Macmillan’s. Over £90 was raised for this worthy cause.
Once again a number of organisations attended, setting up stalls holding lots of information about their services. Participants were asked to browse the stands to get the information for the all important quiz. A special thanks to all of those organisations for giving up your time to support the event and providing quiz questions. These included Age Concern, The Brighter Living Partnership, Affordable Warmth, Seftons Advocacy with Older People, Sefton Alzheimer’s Society, Wirral Council Road Safety Team, Macmillan, The Atkinson Art Gallery and Active Sefton Library Services.
Our teams got together and answered 20 questions before our closing ceremony. All participants received a medal and a goody bag. This year ‘Super dupers’ took third place. Our runners up were The Tongue Twisters. Both teams received certificates. Our winning team this year was ‘The Spring Chickens.’ The champions received a trophy and were over the moon with their victory!
